Current events in light of prophecy
On this page...
On this page we will try to give a daily prophetic view on actual developments in the world. We started the prophetic outlining of world affairs on September 9, 2026. On the subpages you will find deep in-depth studies in Bible prophecy, also from the viewpoint of geopolitics, with the people of Palestine at the very center.

While all eyes of the world are directed at the war on Iran and the price of oil, the pace of the genocide in Gaza and the West-Bank is accelerating. With the board of peace and a 'cease fire' in place, lauded and supported by the complete UN and almost all Arab countries, the US and Israel have managed to draw attention away from a genocide that is still ongoing. Food and medical supplies are still heavily restricted causing a constant state of malnourishment and death through lack of medicine. Water and salination networks are being destroyed. Civilians continue to be brutally bombed and shelled in their tents. The police force in Gaza, necessary to keep order amidst chaos, is under special attack from the genocidal state. The IDF has continuously shifted the 'yellow line' toward the sea, driving 2 million Palestinians into an increasingly smaller strip of land threatening them with evacuation orders. The IDF would occupy 53% of Gaza and would retreat once the hostages would have been released by Hamas. All hostages have been released but the IDF did not retreat. Instead, they have taken about 70% of the Gaza strip. They now openly speak about a policy to drive all Palestinians out of Gaza.
In order to understand the relationship of these events with bible prophecy, we first have to realize that bible prophecy has been completely hijacked by zionist Christians, mostly evangelicals. This capture of bible prophecy by Zionist evangelicals has had to results:
(1) A total disbelief in bible prophecy by many non-evangelicals, who have become accustomed to completely ignoring any possible relationship between bible prophecy and actual world events.
(2) A fervent belief in a bright future of the Israeli people and the world as a whole through the plans and actions of the Zionist state of Israel, however outrageous, gruwesome and inhumane these plans and actions might be, under the pretext that the state of Israel represents 'God's chosen people'.
Of these fallacies, the second one is by far the most dangerous in its outcomes. It is better not to interpret than to falsely interpret. Moreover, many Jews in the world absolutely refute the notion that they would be represented by the state of Israel. Many Jews are fiercely opposed to zionism. So how is a Zionist state to represent them?
Each interpretation of prophecy, be it mine or Zionist, has to be in line with (1) all of Scripture and (2) actual events if they are related to prophecy. If we are close to the Endtime, what many evangelical zionists assume, then we should see the people of the most High coming into distress. The bible is clear that the Endtime would be 'a time of Jacob's trouble' (Jeremiah 30:7). The saints of the most High would be severely persecuted by the dragon (Revelation 12:13), through the last phase of his empire, seen in Daniel 7 as the 11th horn of the fourth beast (Daniel 7:21, 25).

The Iran war is continuing, with the USA and Iran reacting to each others attacks in an unprovoked war of aggression, started by both Israel and the USA on February 28, 2026. In the latest round, on September 5 and 6, Iranian ballistic missiles targeted the US-aircraft carrier, the George Washington, which arrived at the scene around August 20, 2026, to relieve the Abraham Lincoln, which had been without a port call for more than 200 days - an absolute record and was docked in Thailand for a complete recovery of ship and crew.
Iran's attack constituted the first wartime use of their Qasem Basir ballistic missile and urged the US-carrier to flee some hundred miles away. The US-carriers form part of a blockade on Iranian shipping in order to strangle the country into submission. The blockade came as an addition to the crippling sanctuans that the US has laid upon the country for many years and which have been tightened since JD Trump came into office. Recently, they were even expanded with secondary sanctions on all countries that would keep trading with Iran and with sanctions on dozens of Iran's airlines.
The Qasem Basir ballistic missile has a warhead of approximately 500 kilograms with a detachable manoeuvrable re-entry vehicle and it can reach a speed of more than ten times the speed of sound, which would make it difficult to neutralize it with destroyers. The threat angered the US, which responded on September 6 with an attack on three Iranian-linked tankers of which they sank at least one. Then Iran shot at ten ships of the US navy to wich the US retaliated with an attack on 5 oil tankers. Iran also fired ballistic missiles at US bases in Jordan.
The US already came under pressure to reduce its military footprint in the Gulfstates and had withdrawn troops and equipment to Jordan, further away from the threat of Iranian missiles. Since Iran started to hammer US basis in Jordan with its missiles, the US-position in Jordan has also become less tenable. The only option further away is Israel, which has been called the 'unsinkable aircraft carrier' of the US.
The US-war on Iran caused enormous spikes in the oil price since February of 2026. One of the first things Iran did as response to Israeli/US-attacks was to close the strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's oil transport runs. First the price of Brent shot up to $126 per barrel. Since then, the disagreement has shifted from 'nuclear enrichment' to 'control of the strait'. In April tensions lowered and so did the Brent price, dropping to about $90. Then the shooting started again with the Brent price spiking at $118 and $112 at the end of April and in May. Complelled by the fast depleting stocks of oil and by the impopularity of the war in the US, DJ Trump signed a memorandum of understanding on June 17, in which he gave way to all of Iran's demans, even those concerning Israel and Lebanon. But it didn't last long before he realized that he looked like a looser and that he couldn't comply with what he had signed and started to withdraw from it in all of his actions. He was sided by Israel, which didn't retreat from Lebanon and instead went on with its campaign of total destruction in South Lebanon. Within a weeks, the memorandum broke down and hostilities restarted. On July 23, the Brent price rose again above the $100. After a pause in the fighting, on September 9, the price again returned above $100.
There are multiple links between these events and bible prophecy. We will name two:
(1) The US-empire is on a slow path of losing global hegemony, with strong
players like China and Russia, forming alliences with the global South, threatening the dollar as the sole reserve currency. The US needs the defeat of Iran in order to reassert its dominant position in the Middle East. But the developments since February 28, 2026 have shown that it has not the military and economic power to take out Iran. The only option it is left with is to provoke Iran in some way into overstretching, in order to weaken it. That is what professor Pape, specialist in 'the escalation trap', once said he hoped for in one of his interviews.
This is exactly what the Bible describes as the beginning of the Endtime: the king of the North will be provoked into invading Israel. The state of Israel has allready become the paria of the world through all of its policies of apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people. For a long time the Al Aqsa has come under attack from Jewish religious groups, that want its destruction in order to build a third Jewish temple. The first step would be to claim the complete Haram Al Sharif as Jewish and to deprive Muslims from the right to perform their rituals and from the right to enter the compound. If this would be combined with an honoring of the US-president in the Al Aqsa as part of the ceremony, one can barely imagine the outrage throughout the Muslim world. It would be enough to provoke both Egypt and Iran to invade Israel, as stated in Daniel 11:39-45.
(2) The Gulf states are not just important sources of energy but also of
fertilizers. Scarcity of both energy and fertilizer means an enormous blow to the availability of food. If the barrier on the transport of oil and gaz remains in place because of the war in the Middle East, famine will erupt in many places on earth. That is precisely what the Bible predicts as one of the first phases of the Endtime, symbolically described as 'the black horse' of the Apocalyptic horsemen (Revelation 6:5,6)
