Daniel 11

“Also in the first year of Darius the Mede, I, even I, stood up to confirm and strengthen him.) And now I will tell you the truth: Behold, three more kings will arise in Persia, and the fourth shall be far richer than them all; by his strength, through his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece. Then a mighty king shall arise, who shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will. And when he has arisen, his kingdom shall be broken up and divided toward the four winds of heaven, but not among his posterity nor according to his dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom shall be uprooted, even for others besides these.

...

21 And in his place shall arise a vile person, to whom they will not give the honor of royalty; but he shall come in peaceably, and seize the kingdom by intrigue. 22 With the [j]force of a flood they shall be swept away from before him and be broken, and also the prince of the covenant. 23 And after the league is made with him he shall act deceitfully, for he shall come up and become strong with a small number of people. 24 He shall enter peaceably, even into the richest places of the province; and he shall do what his fathers have not done, nor his forefathers: he shall disperse among them the plunder, spoil, and riches; and he shall devise his plans against the strongholds, but only for a time.

25 “He shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South with a great army. And the king of the South shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand, for they shall devise plans against him. 26 Yes, those who eat of the portion of his delicacies shall destroy him; his army shall be swept away, and many shall fall down slain. 27 Both these kings’ hearts shall be bent on evil, and they shall speak lies at the same table; but it shall not prosper, for the end will still be at the appointed time. 28 While returning to his land with great riches, his heart shall be moved against the holy covenant; so he shall do damage and return to his own land.

29 “At the appointed time he shall return and go toward the south; but it shall not be like the former or the latter. 30 For ships from Cyprus shall come against him; therefore he shall be grieved, and return in rage against the holy covenant, and do damage.

“So he shall return and show regard for those who forsake the holy covenant. 31 And forces shall be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices, and place there the abomination of desolation. 32 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. 33 And those of the people who understand shall instruct many; yet for many days they shall fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plundering. 34 Now when they fall, they shall be aided with a little help; but many shall join with them by intrigue. 35 And some of those of understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time.

36 “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. 37 He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. 38 But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. 44 But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many. 45 And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.

Daniel 11

The Start of WWIII

In Short

Daniel 11 shows details concerning earlier prophecies, in Daniel 8 and Daniel 9. It shows how the cooperation of Israel's Endtime leader of Daniel 8 with the Endtime-empire, the USA,' of Daniel 9, will lead to the outbreak of a great war in the Middle East. It shows how the 'overspreading of abominations' of Daniel 9:27 will culminate in an extremely provoking affront to the Muslim world in the Al Aqsa, bringing the wrath of both Egypt and Iran in full force upon the state of Israel. This, in turn, will lead to the destruction of Iran.

Two Greek Kingdoms

The prophecy of Daniel 11 starts with the last rulers of the Persian empire. Then it switches to the Greek empire (vs.2), Alexander the Great, passing away and leaving his empire to four of his generals (vs.3,4). During a few centuries, two of the kingdoms of Greece are in a constant struggle for control in the region with Israel in their midst - The Seleucid king of the North and the Ptolemaic (Egypt) king of the South. The moment came that the Seleucid king of the North, by the name of Antioch Epiphanes, was held beck in his campaign toward Egypt by 'the ships of Chittim', the naval fleet of the Roman empire. This angered him greatly and this anger was unleashed upon the traditional and faithful Jews, that opposed the Hellenization of their country. Many of them were killed. Then the desecration of the temple started with the offering of pigs upon the altar an the erecting of a statue of Zeus in the courtyard. The way this is expressed in Daniel 11 is: ' And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that makes desolate.' All of this happened in the year 167 BC. The question is, what was the desolation that was caused by this abomination. It cannot be the massacres of traditional and faithful Jews that opposed the Greek culture overtaking their country, 'a massacre of young and old, a killing of women and children, a slaughter of virgins and infants' - 40.000 people in the space of 3 days. For that had already happened before the desecration of the temple. Would it be the death of Antioch Epiphanes in 164, around the time of the reconsecration of the temple after 3 years? We think 'desolation' goes much further than the death of a foreign king, however wicked this king might have been. We think that the desolation, that will follow the 3 year long abomination, is still future. This is also confirmed by Daniel 8. According to the explanation, given by the angel in the second half of Daniel 8, this prophecy concerns the Endtime. And it has to, because the 2300 evenings or days of temple defilement have not been made full. The Greek idolatry in the temple only lasted 3 years, 1,080 days. That still leaves 2.300 - 1,080 = 1,220 days of idolatry yet to be fulfilled.

Therefore it is at the Endtime 1,220 days of idolatry that the desolation will come upon the country of Israel. The ruler of Israel in those days is minutely described in the last verses of Daniel 8, words that exactly match the character and the acts of the man called 'Netanyahu'.

It is the last verse of Daniel 9 that describes the other player of the Endtime, that will cause total desolation to come, the US-president. He is seen as the ultimate heir of the old Roman empire. The legions that destroyed the temple and the city in 70 AD are called 'the people of a prince that would come (Daniel 9:26). This 'prince' would make 'the covenant heavy for many for one week', the last of the 70 weeks, which - according to us - started on 2022-12-29, with the extremist Netanyahu regime. Through this regime, the US-empire exerts its power in the Middle East, first and foremost in the destroying of the Palestinian people. It is the war against the saints of the most High, described in Daniel 7, a war which is waged by the last state of the Roman empire, seen as 'little horn' (Daniel 7:21).

Daniel 8, ends in a description of Israel's last 'king'. Daniel 9, ends in 'the last week' of 7 years with the 'abomination of desolation' in the midst of it by the last emperor of the empires. Both chapters come together in the end of Daniel 11, showing the relationship between both characters, the leader of Israel and the emperor of the USA. As stated above, Daniel 11 describes the two parts of the Greek empire, the Seleucid and the Ptolemy, called king of the North and king of the South. Verse 35 is the linking pin, linking the distant past to the days shortly before the Endtime: 'And [some] of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make [them] white, [even] to the time of the end: because [it is] yet for a time appointed.' This 'fall in order to try and to purge' was what happened to the Jews in the days of Antioch Epiphanes, when the temple was defiled. This 'fall to purify' is happening again to the Palestinian people, the people with the most direct lineage to the patriarchs of ancient Israel. They are the 'third' in the land that would be brought in the fire in order to purify them:

'And it shall come to pass in all the land,” Says the Lord, “That two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die, But one-third shall be left in it: I will bring the one-third through the fire, will refine them as silver is refined, and test them as gold is tested.' (Zechariah 13:8,9)

The great enemy of the people of God is 'the king' in the next verses:

“Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all."

The last leader of Israel will be a godless man, that only uses the Torah for his own political gain. The idle use of the name of the Lord, while committing the worst of atrocities and spewing wicked plans while entering sentences like 'with the help of God', is here called: 'the speaking of blasphemies'. But he is not immediately cut off by the Lord. No, he will even prosper. He will succeed in his evil plans 'till the wrath has been accomplished, for what has been determined shall be done'. Prophecy has to come to the full, as Jesus once said to Peter when He was arrested: "How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?” (Mathew 26:56). And earlier He said: 'Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!' (Mathew 18:7). His prospering is the result of his ties with the mighty empire of the last days, which is seen in the next verses:

'But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. 39 Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.

The god of fortresses is the US-empire, that was instrumental in the foundation of the state of Israel and of which it has become a protectorate ever since. The US is the mighty world force that gives Israel almost limitless financial, military and diplomatic support. The USA and Israel have become so intertwined that they have the same goals, the same interests, the same political philosophy. The honor that the leader of Israel will give to the US-president consists of large sums of money, with which the elections of 2024 were decided. Israel also gave him the nomination for the Nobel 'peace'-prize. On his visit the 29th of December 2025 (exactly 3 years in office) Netanyahu made known the intention to give him the 'Israel prize', breaking with tradition to honor a non-Israeli and marking the first time the annual prize will go to another country's president.

The 'thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god' is probably the text on which Paul based his prophecy on 'the lawless one', the 'man of sin', the 'son of perdition', setting himself in the temple of God, proclaiming to be god. If the present path of developments is continued, this could very well be the desecration of the Mosques on the Haram Al Sharif, the temple mountain in Jerusalem. We see two lines leading up to such an event: (1) The mutual respect between Trump and Netanyahu. Trump is not just shielding Israel. He is also giving Netanyahu judicial coverage. He tries to persuade the president of Israel, Herzog, to pardon Netanyahu for his criminal past, for which he is still under investigation. Trump is sanctioning every human rights institution that has charged Netanyahu with war crimes for his genocide in Gaza. Trump is publicly praising Netanyahu for sticking to 'the plan' (whatever that may be) while Israel daily violates the ceasefire in Gaza in the most cruel of ways (even shooting a boy and riding over him with a tractor). To Netanyahu Donald Trump indeed acts as a 'god of fortresses' in whom he finds refuge. This toxic relationship might very well end in Netanyahu taking his honoring of Trump as far as placing him as some sort of divine being in the Al-Aqsa. The first American president, George Washington was also deified in the US-capitol, pictured as the ascended Jesus on the roof-painting pictured as the ascended Jesus on the  ceiling of the Capitol rotunda.

Likewise, the last president of the USA could as well be deified in a similar building on the Al Aqsa, as a present from the Israeli prime minister who is so very fond of him.

The actions of the US-president and the Israeli prime minister will cause an outrage in the Muslim world. Within days a full force attack will start from Iran, not just with missiles but also with invading forces, as foretold in the rest of chapter 11.

40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. 41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the [s]prominent people of Ammon. 45 And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him."

Provoked by the ultimate affront to their third most holy place, the people of Egypt, that for more than 2 years have been witnessing a genocide against their Muslim brothers in Palestine,   will be in a rage that will only cool down if the Egyptian government will take steps to finally chastise the state of genocidal maniacs. Therefore 'the king of the South' will attack the evil king of Israel. Egypt has been building up its military forces in Sinai. Tens of thousands of troops and thousands of heavy vehicle are stationed there, together with the most sophisticated air defense systems.

But the most dangerous enemy of Israel will attack from the North: Iran. The Islamic state of Iran has an enormous arsenal of missiles that are not only targeting Israel but predominantly US-bases in the Gulf states. In order for the USA to avert the enormous stand-in-the-way to global hegemony without endangering all of its troops in the Middle East, it has to get rid of the Iranian missile-threat. This would be a rationale for the USA to sacrifice its proxy Israel. That is exactly what seems to be prophesied in Daniel 11. Iran will unleash all of its missile capabilities upon the small nation of Israel, which will be obliterated like Gaza was. This would also be a fulfillment of a prophecy in Isaiah 28:14-19. The 'covenant with death and the agreement with hell' will be blotted out, causing unprecedented destruction. The twelve day war from June 13 - June 24 of 2025 proved that the combined defense systems of the US and Israel were not capable of preventing enormous devastation. If these 12 days would be prolonged to 12 weeks, nothing will be left of the cities of Israel. Moreover the text of Daniel 11 states that the missile attack will be followed by an all-out invasion. The government of Iran wil be determined to wipe out the state of Israel once and for all.

The 'chariots, horsemen, and with many ships' is prophetic language for the most advanced weaponry, which in those days consisted of chariots and horsemen. In our day and age one has to think of tanks and armored vehicles. The 'glorious land' is the land of Israel. The countries that will be invaded are those between Iran and Israel, which are Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. Recent developments have greatly weakened Syria while groups aligning with Iran could be assisting in the advance toward Israel. The text explicitly mentions the countries that won't be invaded: 'but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon'. On a present day map these are located in the North of Saudi Arabia (Edom) and Jordan (Moab, Ammon). Iran will invade Israel from the North. That is possibly why Israel has captured the South of Lebanon (North of Israel's borders) and is building strongholds there. But how does Israel know the plans of Iran to invade?

Satan, the spiritual power behind the US empire and its proxy Israel, knows the prophetic word like no one else. In the short time he is left with, he tries everything within his power to prevent Bible prophecy from happening. That is why he took control of the Middle East through his instrument called 'the state of Israel' - not to make prophecy happen but to prevent it from happening. It is the book of Zechariah that shows how the true people of God that lived in Palestine for thousands of years will destroy the 'throne of the beast' in the Endtime - Satan's control tool for humanity. That is why the Palestinians are ethnically cleansed from their land. However, in preventing Bible prophecy from happening, satan is only helping in the fulfillment of it - as was the case with the first coming of Jesus. The strategy of ethnically cleansing in slow motion didn't succeed for 75 years. Therefore he is in great hurry, resulting in a genocide for more than 2 years, which was prophesied in Zechariah 13:8, 9 - the one third of the land that would be brought in the fire.

The invasion by Iran won't stop at Israel. The invasion by Iran was preceded by an Egyptian attack against Israel that will have weakened both Israel and Egypt. Therefore Iran has the opportunity to invade Egypt. There Iran will lay the hands on 'treasures of gold and silver'. This might have something to do with the investments in gold, because of the decline of the dollar. Iran could feel justified at the taking of much of Egypt's wealth because it has suffered under Western sanctions for years, while Egypt has been subsidized by it.

Even Libya and Ethiopia are mentioned as countries that will be invaded. In ancient days Libya was the Western part of present-day Egypt. Ethiopia lay about where it is now, only closer to the Red sea. The reason for the invasion of the northeastern corner of Africa is the control of the most important trade routes in the world, the other side of which is under influence of the Houthis of Yemen, which are allied with Iran. For the past 4 years, 2022-2025, Israel has secretly and covertly built a base on the red sea shipping lane, opposite Yemen. This hidden military structure could very well be a reason for Iran to also invade Somaliland (part of Somalia, first to be recognized as independent state by Israel). In ancient times, this was all 'Ethiopia'.

While a large part of Iran's military is busy fighting in the South, 'messages from the North and the East shall trouble him.' What kind of messages might that be? The North and the East are the locations of the great rivals of the USA, Russia and China that rose in military and economic power during the last decades and thereby threatened US-hegemony. The reaction of the US has been to hold on to its global supremacy and to defeat every rival on the global scene. That is why a proxy war is fought in Ukraine. That is why Taiwan is given military and intelligence support and why China is encircled and the belt and road initiative is constantly under attack. That is why the US is demanding total control over the Western hemisphere again, claiming the Panama canal, the oil reserves of Venezuela and Greenland. The messages reaching the armies of Iran in the South could be that Russia and China are no longer able to defend the territory of Iran because they have their own war to fight against the USA. . and the upcoming of BRICS and other aliences. that is striving to dominate the world again, after being. The reaction of the Iranian millitary will again be devastating: 'therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many'. The main culprit of all terror in the Middle East, Israel, will again be chastized, at least what is left of it. As already mentioned, the invasion from the king of the North is also foretold in Isaiah 28:14-19. There is is seen as a result of a covenant with death and an agreement with hell, which will be annulled. our covenant with death will be annulled:

'And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it. As often as it goes out it will take you; For morning by morning it will pass over, And by day and by night; It will be a terror just to understand the report.'

Next - Daniel 12

Previous -  Daniel 9

The USA will effectively stand down for it hasn't got the defend systems to protect Israel once Iran will pounce the country with all of its missiles for many weeks. Once the Iranian army will be pulled back to Iran because of 'the news from the east and the north', the incapability of China and Russia to defend the Iranian homeland, it will again pass through Israel, finishing off everything that was left standing. The text says: 'But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many'. On their way back, the Iranian army will camp between the Mediterranian and the Dead sea, close to the temple mountain, the place that had caused the ourtage: 'And he shall plant the tentsof his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain'. There the Iranian army will meets it very end: 'yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.' The two backers of Iran have their own war to fight militarily or covertly or both and they are not able to assist Iran in its Middle Eastern struggle. Having weakened itself by its extensive military operation against Israel, it has become an easy target for the enormous military might of the United States. This would be the US-endgame for world hegemony: sacrificing its proxy, luring Iran into an all-out war and taking Iran out once it has become vulnerable. It will have secured that both Russia and China are kept busy, preventing them from helping their ally, therefore: 'yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him.'
