The present in relation to Scripture
What is missing in many interpretations of Bible prophecy is how they relate to the actual situation of today. Are the present powers and circumstances in the world recognizable in prophecy? Is the USA in the Bible? Is present day Israel in the Bible? Is Europe? Is Russia? Is China? Are the first and the second world war in the Bible? Does the prophetic word include the present tensions in the world? Is the danger of AI somewhere to be found? And if so, how are all of these powers and circumstances described?
Instead of just giving very general prophetic outlines (which do not go much further than the Bible itself and leave the reader with the same if not more questions) this site tries to pinpoint exactly the present powers, institutions, relations, struggles, clashes and risks that have played a key role in geopolitics of the past century.
On this page we will give our estimation as to how the present situation in the world relates to the many prophecies, which are to be found in the Bible. We will often totally differ with most if not all mainstream opinions on Bible prophecy. In our estimation, many of them are totally off the true meaning of scripture or they are totally off the way history has evolved or they are both.
As we have stressed on our home page, every explanation of Bible prophecy must be in accordance with the totality of scripture and it should match with the true state of the world. We constantly keep an eye on these principles. This brings us to an estimation of our present position in time. In that estimation we see the last 3.5 years Endtime before Jesus' return as fast approaching.
On this page we divide Bible texts in past, present and future. Therefore we use three columns over which the texts will be divided. Each part will be followed by a short explanation.

PAST
6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Explanation:
In fact wars and rumors of wars have characterized the complete church era of almost 2000 years. The cause is 'the empire' that wants again to reestablish itself as world dominating power since it fell in the fifth century AD.
For many centuries the empire was subdued by the strength of Christianity. But Christianity would lose her influence on world affairs because of her failure to remain in the words of Christ. That gave the empire the opportunity to attack her, to totally subdue her and to make her an instrument in its strategy to regain world control.
The revival of the empire started in 1776, with the foundation of the USA. From this newly discovered continent, it could build a worldwide dominion, under the directions of nobody else than the dragon - which is satan and the devil, the old snake. The revolutions that were instigated and the wars that were fought since 1776 are all signs of the emerging world empire.
PAST
40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others.
Explanation:
This concerns the prophecy of Nebuchadnezzar's statue, which he saw in his dream, with the head of gold, the chest and the arms of silver, the thighs of bronze and the legs of iron with feet partly of iron, partly of clay.
The dream of the statue comprises world history since the Babylonian empire: Four empires would arise, the Babylonian (Golden head), the Persian (Silver chest and arms), the Greek (Bronzen thighs) and the Roman (Iron legs).
The Roman empire was exceptionally strong and it incorporated much of the other empires.
PAST
23 “He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. 24 The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings.
Explanation:
Daniel's dream consisted of four animals that he saw coming out of the sea, a winged lion, a bear, a four-headed leopard and a terrifying fourth beast. These represent the empires of the past 2.500 years: Babylon (the lion), Persia (the bear), Greece (the leopard) and Rome (the terrifying fourth beast). Ten horns arose from the fourth beast, the nations of Europe after the fall of the Roman empire. From among Europe's nations another nation would arise, different from all of them, like the Roman empire differed from the preceding empires, looking more imposing than the others, as verse 20 states. This new nation would have enormous influence on earth as seen in verse 25. This new nation would subdue three of the ten nations from which it arose.
Looking at the history of the past 250 years, there is only one power in the world that came forth from the nations of Europe and that grew more imposing, gained enormous influence on earth and conquered three of the nations of Europe, beating them into submission: The United States of America. The three European nations that were subdued by the USA are Spain (in 1898, in the Spanish war), Germany (in 1918, in WW1) and England (in 1945, in WW2). That the US fought on the side of England does not blot out the fact that world domination has been taken over by the USA from the UK because of all that resulted from WW2.
PRESENT
6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Explanation:
We are living in the last days before the empire will recapture total world dominance - notwithstanding the many that are foretelling a multi polar world. The aspirations of the empire are the cause of the wars we see. The empire is incorporated by the USA and its vassal states in Europe and the Middle East.
The 'you' that Jesus addresses, shows that his followers would experience all of this.
Jesus' remark that 'the end is still to come' shows us that the Endtime is yet to start, the last 3.5 years before his return.
PRESENT
41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.
Explanation:
Out of the Roman empire, ten nations would emerge, the nations of Europe. From the fall of the Roman empire, these nations were divided like the toes of the statue in Nebuchadnezzar's dream. 'And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.' A second meaning of the iron and clay is the partly strong and partly fragile nature of Europe. Governments could be very harsh but could also admit to democratic principles. This dissension and this partial weakness of Europe's nations made it possible for two great powers of the Endtime to arise: the beast out of the sea (the USA) and the beast out of the earth (Zionism). The coming up of the beast out of the sea is pictured in Daniel's dream of Daniel 7, about four beasts coming from the sea. Daniel's dream differs from Nebuchadnezzar's dream, not just in presentation but also in how it ends. The European nations are pictured as ten horns on the head of the fourth sea-beast (comparable to the ten toes). Among the ten horns a little horn comes up that eventually takes the lead. The fact that Europe was divided gave the USA, which came from the countries of Europe, the opportunity to seize world power.
PRESENT
In the explanation, given to Daniel in Daniel 7, there is no part that explicitly shows us today's situation. However, in the recounting of the dream by Daniel, he uses a sentence which can be applied to the present world:
21 As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people and defeating them
Explanation:
Ever since Israel lost its temple with the Ark (around 600 BC) the rule over the earth was given to the empires, that would emerge. These empires stood under direct control of satan, the enemy of God and his holy people, out of which Messiah would come, the Messiah which constituted the one and only threat to satan. This resulted in much enmity of the empires against the small people of Israel.
Christ came and conquered satan. And from a certain moment in time this would result in the expelling of satan from heaven and casting him to earth. (We think this moment to be in the very recent past). From then on the empire would become totally satanic, possessed by satan and it would try to destroy the people that brought forth the Man that had meant satan's eternal damnation. All of this is the tale of Revelation 12.
Look at what is being done to the Palestinians - men, women and children - bombarded in their houses, bombarded in their hospitals, bombarded in their schools, bombarded in their mosques, ninety percent of their buildings reduced to inhabitable rubble, bombarded and shot while trying to help the injured, shot in their heads, shot in their abdomen, starved to death for months - no food, no water, no electricity, no medicine - and when packets of food finally arrive, many of them are shot while they come to collect the food at the administered distribution points.
The present situation for the Palestinians is incomprehensible in the light of all human right institutions that exist in the world. Why is the whole world incapable of stopping the ongoing genocide of innocent and defenseless people that has been going on for twenty months and which has nothing to do any longer with 'October 7' and 'hostages'? The hostages could all have been free and back with their families at the end of 2023 had their been a will to come to a solution. But that will is lacking. And that will is not only lacking with the political elite of Israel. It is especially lacking with the rulers of the United States, which delivers most of the weapons, the financial support, the political support and the diplomatic support to the small state it helped to create under the UN.
The present situation for Palestinians in Israel is an exact fulfillment of what the 'little horn' is doing to 'the people of the Most High'. 'As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people and defeating them'. And it will go from bad to worse.
FUTURE
7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Explanation:
The totality of wars across the world is necessary for the empire to regain total control. The wars in the Middle East since 9/11 had to accomplish this but they didn't. Instead China and Russia became much more formidable powers. Somehow this was induced by the USA itself, through its policy of globalization since 1995, with huge capital exports from the USA.
The combination of worldwide conflicts with famines and earthquakes shows that the turmoil of the Endtime will go much deeper than during world wars I and II. Due to advanced weaponry, it will also last shorter.
Jesus' remark that 'these are the beginnings of birth pains' means that this is the start of the Endtime, the last 3.5 years before Jesus' return.
The absence of 'you' during 'the beginnings of birth pains', shows us the effect of the rapture of the church, which for a very short time, will leave the world without followers of Christ. However, the Spirit of God will start to form a new body of believers, out of the twelve tribes of Israel and everyone that is willing to listen to the message of the soon return of Jesus. Therefore the 'you' that Jesus addresses, returns in verse 9 - 'you will be hated'. Since the Endtime has started, the following of Jesus will mean severe persecution.
FUTURE
44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.
Explanation:
We are at the end of history as we know it, history as indicated by Daniel, with the 'ten kings' of the Endtime, the divided nations of Europe. The European nations will exist when God will set up his kingdom through his Messiah, Jesus Christ. There won't be another empire after the present that will replace it. The present geopolitical situation in the world, which the Western powers are trying to hold on to with tenacity will not be swallowed up by a so called 'multi polar world' of a world in which China wil gain hegemony. The present powers in the world will all be confronted by Jesus Christ on his return. And this will not end well for them. Every soul being part of the command chains anywhere in the world had better save his soul and resign from his position.
FUTURE
25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time.
26 “‘But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever. 27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey Him.’
Explanation:
According to Revelation 12, there will come a point at which the Palestinians in Israel will be rescued by God Himself. From that moment on, the satanic evils that were seen in Gaza will be unleashed upon the whole world. And like in Gaza there will be a pretext. Satan is never straight. He must have an argument for waging his wars. When listening to US politicians, one can already hear the arguments: Iran is posing a threat. China is posing a threat. Russia is posing a threat. When however looking at the state of affairs of the past 35 years, the only threat to regional peace and world peace has been the USA and its constant strife for world dominance.
The speaking against the Most High is not yet the case. It is yet future. But we see that Western politicians become more and more emboldened to take for granted the world dominance that is slowly slipping away from them. With their words they try to compensate their lack of actual economic, political and economical power. For one man, the president of the USA, this emboldenment will go so far as to speak words against God Himself. He will start claims of being God and will set himself up in the temple of God. He will also start to change 'set times and laws'. We already see some of this behavior in the extraordinary actions of president Trump concerning the Golf of Mexico, Greenland, the Panama Canal, Nordstream 2, Gaza, Tariffs, et cetera.
From the moment the world leader wil declare himself to be God in an important religious building, all dissidents will be rounded up and they will start to share in the fate of the Palestinians. This is the Endtime, in which world rulers have unprecedented powers through modern weaponry and technology. It will be a period of 3.5 years of total tyranny that will end abruptly by the return of Jesus Christ.
The return of Jesus Christ will mean the destruction of the empire. It will be given over to 'fire'.
'Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire' (Daniel 7:11)
These words stress the suddenness of the judgment. While still speaking, the beast is thrown into the fire. Daniel speaks of 'a river of fire' going out from the throne. Revelation 19 speaks of a 'lake of fire', in which the beast and the false prophet will be thrown.
The situation on earth changes immediately. Instead of the present world powers, we will see the rule of those that had been severely persecuted during the Endtime, especially the Palestinian people, which will have acknowledged Jesus as Savior and Son of God. This kingdom of God, will encompass the whole earth and it will not last for just a few years. It will be a thousand years of righteousness, peace and unprecedented prosperity, not just for a happy few but for all of humanity.
